Candy Shaw Codner developed Sunlights® Balayage Lightener, and its companion educational kit, The Balay Box®, to fill what she perceived as a real need in the hair industry. While there are some decent lighteners available for balayage in the market place, none particularly stand out. And foil highlighting lighteners are simply not compatible for use in balayage due to their gritty consistency and the buffers they contain so they may be placed under the dryer.
Balayage is the French word for “sweep”, like with a broom, and designates the form of highlighting that is done with an artist’s stroke and a brush rather than with aluminium foil. Sunlights® Balayage Lightener is painted directly onto the hair. Balayage wrap may be applied to separate sections but no foil is used. The results are natural looking ‘sun-kissed’ hair like that of a child that spent the summer at the beach. Regrowth lines are much less obvious than with foil highlights. Clients adore the results.
Unlike most foil and balayage lighteners in the market place, which are mostly silica (sand) based, which accounts for their gritty consistency, Sunlights® Balayage Lightener is a Kaolin, or clay based, lightener, which causes it to be smooth, silky and conditioning while optimally performing the balayage process. Coupled with its grapefruit fragrance, Sunlights® Balayage Lightener is already being perceived as the ‘forbidden fruit’ to stylists across the country. Once you use it you can’t live without it!
